Make traveling your priority

Okay, maybe second to your fixed living expenses. Nonetheless, make your traveling plans and dreams at the top ranking of your list—of course, create your priority list first. This will show you a clear view of what your responsibilities and goals are, and encourage you to figure out how to achieve each of them.

Seeing your list, it seems difficult to balance your time with work, friends, family, hobbies, other responsibilities, and now, travel. But if you really love adventures and have been wanting to travel in Southeast Asia and other continents, or exploring your city at least, you’ll find ways and time for it. Life is short. Make traveling your priority and balance out your list.

Use your vacation leaves and take advantage of public holidays.

This is a no-brainer. You are given a number of paid vacation leaves, no matter how jampacked your work is, use those benefits and treat yourself to a much-needed break or wanderlust.

If you’re feeling regretful spending these VLs knowing you can convert it to cash at the end of the year, know that you’re choosing money over a memorable experience you may not have in the future. If you’re so worried about the number of your VL, why not strategically plan your travel trip over long weekends or public holidays? This will surely save you a lot of paid leaves. So, mark all the public holidays on your calendar and start planning!

Travel in your own city

You’re too busy scouting for out of town destinations or international ones, you’re overlooking the fact that your city could be a perfect place for exploration especially if you have little to no knowledge of your city’s hot spots.

Traveling doesn’t necessarily mean going to faraway places or hopping on a plane en route to foreign lands. Often times, the best places are near you, waiting for you to explore them. Go to your local museum, library, underground music scenes, book a hotel near you and just relax, check out the local and new restaurants, and the works. Pick up your travel shoes and explore.

Go on weekend trips

Whether it’s a day trip, overnight trip, or a good weekender, it’s a wise move to book your travel on your rest days. Obviously, you’ll only get to travel not too far since you have to consider and plan the travel time and activities in your itinerary. Yes, it can be tiring but it’s definitely worthwhile.

Maximize your work trips

If one of the nature of your job is to travel either domestically, internationally, or both, grab that opportunity to explore the places you’re assigned on work trips.

Yes, you’re sent to these places for business or work purposes but surely you get to enjoy the evenings to go explore the new environment. And if your company allows extended trips, take advantage of it and see more of the city.

Identify the conflict/s and compromise

What are the things that hinders your travel plans? Your 9-to-5 job? Chores? Lots of other responsibilities? Family obligations? The list can go on and on. However, finding the right balance among all these to checking off your goals is the essential thing to do to pursue your dreams, your travel plans.
