Are you sick of waiting in traffic jams? The stress of handling them each morning on your way to work can really get you down. That’s why many people are starting to look at the alternatives. Each of these options has its pros and cons. But if you want to cut down on the amount of driving you’re doing during rush hour, you should definitely consider them all. It could be one of the biggest and best changes you make this year. Read on to find out more about the options.

#1: Join a Carpooling Scheme

Many workplaces have a carpooling scheme, so maybe this is something you can get involved with. The major benefit of carpooling is that you only have to drive once a week or so. For the rest of the time, you’ll just be a passenger in the car. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll dodge all the traffic. But it will mean that there are fewer cars on the road, and, for the most part, you won’t be the one behind the wheel dealing with the traffic directly. That can be a huge relief, so see if there is an ongoing carpooling service in your workplace today.

#2: Consider Remote Working if Possible

Remote working is an idea that is starting to be adopted by more and more workplaces up and down the country. With the capabilities on offer from technology, it’s simply not necessary for many people to make their way to an office each morning. As long as they have a computer and an internet connection, they can start working from home with no loss of capability. Talk to your boss about this and see if it’s something they’re willing to consider. It could be huge for you because you won’t have to deal with any kind of commute at all.

#3: Give Public Transport a Try

Many people don’t like the idea of forcing themselves onto a packed train, bus or train each morning and evening. It’s not always the most pleasant experience in the world. But if you live in a location where the public transport services are modern and up to date, it could help you skip the traffic. Waiting shelters might get cold in winter, but once you’re on that bus or train, you can take advantage of the absence of traffic or bus lanes to get to the office much quicker.

#4: You Can, Walk or Cycle

Finally, why not consider the green, clean and healthy options. If you are looking to get fit or just get a little more active, why not try walking or cycling into work. Cycling on busy roads isn’t always much fun. But if your area has good cycle paths, you should take advantage of them. And if you live close enough to your place of work, why not just walk? You could, at least, walk a bit of the way. This allows you to bypass the traffic and maybe even get to the office faster than you would if you were driving.
